PRO EX Digital Panel Meter

PRO EX digital panel meter
PRO EX digital panel meter

The PRO EX digital panel meter is a modular integrated instrument for panel-level measurement and monitoring in industrial electrical installations. Instead of combining separate display, transducer, communication and alarm modules on a DIN rail or door, the PRO EX digital panel meter integrates the digital display, analog output, RS485 communication, over-limit alarm records and relay output in one unit. This reduces the number of discrete devices to be wired, calibrated and documented. The design references GB/T13978-1992, GB/T13850-1998, GB/T17620.X-1999, IEC1010 and EN61010, so the electrical safety and measurement requirements behind the unit can be checked against the standards your panel specification already cites. Decimal point and unit switch automatically according to the configured input, which keeps the front-panel reading unambiguous when the same panel model is used across several measurement points.

What the PRO EX digital panel meter measures and does

The PRO EX is a configurable panel instrument: the measured quantity is scaled by the programmed CT ratio and PT ratio, and the result is shown on the high-brightness LED display with the decimal point and unit switched automatically. The analog output provides a continuous signal for a PLC analog input, a chart recorder or a SCADA front end, while the RS485 port carries the same values digitally. Over-limit alarm records store events when the measured value crosses the configured upper or lower alarm value; the relay output can be used to switch an external circuit on the same alarm condition. Typical uses of the relay output and alarm records are interlocking a load, driving a panel lamp or buzzer, and reviewing what happened after an event without a separate data logger. Because the display, output, communication and alarm functions reside in one unit, only one set of measurement inputs and one auxiliary supply are required at the panel.

Options and configuration

The PRO EX is configured through programmable settings. Before ordering and commissioning, define the following for each measurement point:

Record these settings in the panel documentation. Because alarm records and the communication settings live in the same unit as the display, the configuration list is also the reference for later fault analysis. Where several identical measurement points are installed, a common configuration template reduces commissioning time and the risk of address or baud rate conflicts on the RS485 segment.

Applications

The PRO EX digital panel meter is intended for panel builders, system integrators and plant maintenance teams that need local indication plus a signal for the control system at the same point. It suits switchgear and distribution panels where an operator reads the value at the door and the PLC receives the same value over RS485 or as an analog signal. In machine and process panels it provides an alarm relay and a record of over-limit events without an additional monitoring device. In retrofit work it replaces several separate instruments with one unit, which simplifies wiring and spare-part stocking. The anti-surge design and the referenced standards make the unit applicable to industrial environments where switching transients and mains disturbances are part of normal operation.

FAQ

Can the PRO EX be connected to an existing RS485 network?

The address and baud rate are programmable. Before ordering, confirm the protocol, register map and communication settings against the bus master and the other nodes on the segment; assign a unique address per unit and keep the baud rate identical across the segment.

How are the display values matched to the actual current or voltage?

The CT ratio and PT ratio are programmable. Set them to the ratio of the instrument transformers at the measurement point; the decimal point and unit then switch automatically according to the configured input.

What happens when a measured value exceeds the alarm limits?

When the value crosses the programmed upper or lower alarm value, the event is stored in the over-limit alarm records and the relay output can operate the connected circuit. Both alarm values are programmable per unit.

Which standards are referenced in the design?

The design references GB/T13978-1992, GB/T13850-1998, GB/T17620.X-1999, IEC1010 and EN61010. Check the product datasheet for the detailed statement of conformity required by your project.
